Plan a Cheomseongdae stop in central Gyeongju

Cheomseongdae is the surviving Silla-period stone observatory in Gyeongju's Wolseong historic district. It is an outdoor heritage stop best combined on foot with Daereungwon, Gyerim, Woljeonggyo or Donggung and Wolji.

  • Use the official heritage location at 839-1 Inwang-dong or the visitor address on Cheomseong-ro. It is a single protected stone structure, not an indoor astronomy museum with exhibits or telescope sessions.
  • Approach from the Wolseong-dong Community Center stop or as part of the central heritage walking route. Gyeongju's English guide estimates a short walk from the bus stop and links the site naturally with nearby historic areas.
  • Daylight makes the stone construction easier to study, while the city recommends the illuminated night view. Recheck the current seasonal closing time before building a late-evening route.
  • The exterior viewing area is free according to current city and tourism guidance, but nearby parking, tour vehicles and separately ticketed attractions can still cost extra.

Visitor caution: This is a designated National Treasure. Stay on visitor paths, do not climb or touch the structure, and follow temporary barriers or staff instructions even when the surrounding lawn appears accessible.
