Before buying, check the exact model, carrier lock, tethering policy, fair-use speed and activation timing. Do not delete a one-use eSIM profile unless support tells you to.
What a tourist 010 number can—and cannot—verify
A prepaid voice SIM or eSIM can provide a Korean number after passport or entry verification. It may receive hotel, restaurant-waitlist or taxi calls and ordinary SMS. That does not mean it supports regulated Korean mobile identity verification.
PASS, banking and verified local-marketplace accounts commonly require the subscriber to match a Korean resident record. A short-term plan verified with a passport is generally not linked to a Foreign Residence Card—formerly ARC—in that way. Platforms apply their own rules, so an ordinary code may work while formal identity confirmation fails. Set up navigation with the Korean map guide before relying on a local number.
