About the Seoul-Gangneung KTX route
The KTX line connecting Seoul to Gangneung on the east coast was built out significantly for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, cutting a trip that once took several hours by bus down to roughly two hours by train. This makes Gangneung's beaches, seafood and coffee culture realistically reachable as a single-day round trip from Seoul, not just an overnight destination.
