Korail’s official global service supports KTX search and tourist information, with ticket sales generally opening one month ahead. SRT uses SR’s own booking system; its current English notice says foreign-issued cards are not accepted online. Never assume third-party inventory, refunds or seat assignments match the operator’s conditions.

Peak weekends and holidays sell out. Do not board a different operator or departure because the destination is the same. If SRT foreign-card payment remains unavailable, plan an official station purchase or choose KTX rather than relying on an unofficial agent.

Decision rule: KTX is usually simpler for central-Seoul visitors; SRT can be faster door to door from Gangnam or Suseo when booking is feasible.
