The ITX-Cheongchun train route

The ITX-Cheongchun train runs from Yongsan Station toward Gapyeong, with Gapyeong Station being the stop for Nami Island; from there, a short local bus or taxi (roughly 10-15 minutes) connects to the Gapyeong ferry dock, followed by a short ferry crossing to the island itself. This route costs the least of the two options and runs on a fixed timetable, but it involves the most separate legs -- train, then local transport, then ferry.

  • Reserve ITX seats in advance on weekends, since this route is popular enough that unreserved standing can happen during peak season.

Direct tourist shuttle bus

Several tourist shuttle operators run a direct bus from central Seoul pickup points straight to the Nami Island ferry dock (sometimes bundled with a stop at Petite France or the Garden of Morning Calm), avoiding the train-to-local-transport-to-ferry sequence entirely. This usually costs more than the train route but requires no transfers and no separate ticket purchases along the way.

Which one actually fits your trip

  1. Choose the ITX route if you're comfortable navigating a multi-leg trip and want the lowest cost.
  2. Choose a shuttle if you're short on time, traveling with young kids, or want a single fixed pickup and return time without managing separate legs.
  3. Either way, the Nami Island ferry ticket itself is purchased separately at the dock and is not included in either the train fare or most shuttle tickets unless explicitly bundled.
