What WOWPASS actually does

WOWPASS is a self-service kiosk network, commonly found at airports, major stations and tourist areas, that lets you exchange foreign cash into Korean won and load it directly onto a prepaid card -- and that same card also functions as a T-money transit card for subways, buses and some convenience stores. It's designed as an all-in-one alternative to separately finding an exchange counter, buying a transit card, and using a bank card for purchases.

Getting a card

1. Find a WOWPASS kiosk (commonly at Incheon Airport and major Seoul stations) and select your language.
2. Insert foreign cash to exchange, or use a supported payment method depending on the kiosk's current options -- exchange rates are shown before you confirm.
3. The kiosk issues a physical prepaid card loaded with the exchanged won, which is also T-money enabled.

Using it day to day

• Tap the card at subway gates and on buses exactly like a standard T-money card.
• Use it as a contactless prepaid card at retailers and convenience stores that accept card payment.
• Top up the balance at any WOWPASS kiosk with more foreign cash when it runs low, rather than needing to find your original kiosk again.

Keep your original receipt/registration details if you plan to request a refund of unused balance before departure -- refund processes and any associated fee can vary, so check current terms at the kiosk or the operator's official site.

Final practical check: save the official page, exact Korean address and nearest transit exit offline. Reconfirm opening hours, last admission, reservation cutoff and the complete Korean-won price on the day. Carry an overseas card plus a small Korean-won backup, keep receipts, and allow extra time for queues or accessibility.
